The Blair County Human Services Office is an administrative branch of the County Commissioners. This office arranges, by contract, to provide adult services, housing assistance, homeless care management, bridge housing, comprehensive family juvenile delinquency prevention and victim of crime services. The activities of this office focus on the improvement of coordination, planning, management, and service delivery in the Blair County area.
These activities include answering requests for information, offering choices in selecting appropriate agencies and/or referral from various agencies, resource people, and the community at large. This office hosts the "Communities That Care" project, an operating system that provides research-based tools to help communities promote the positive development of their children, while reducing risk factors that lead to substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, school dropout and violence.
We are also home to Breathe tobacco prevention efforts, the Blair Countians For Drug Free Communities coalition, and the Compass II Needs Assessment project, which is a collaboration with the United Way of Blair County.
