MISSION:
The American Red Cross: a humanitarian agency led by volunteers; guided by its Congressional Chapter and the fundamental principle of the Red Cross Movement; will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
DISASTER SERVICES
Through its preparedness and planning programs, the American Red Cross maintains its capability to take immediate action to provide emergency assistance to victims of disasters and emergency workers responding to disasters. Assistance is given based on verified, emergency related needs and may include: food, clothing, emergency shelter, first aid or supplemental medical care. Casework may involve referrals to other appropriate community agencies.
Worldwide communications capability on behalf of service persons and their families to verify family emergencies for military authorities and assist in clarifying problems. Referral to Military Aid Societies and numerous local agencies are also provided. Veterans assistance and referral is also available.
Eligibility: Service persons and their families and honorably discharged veterans.
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Provides education and training to businesses, organizations, and individuals in emergency preparedness, First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED), HIV/AIDS Education, Water Safety, Wilderness Training, and Baby-sitting courses, as well as other emergency services.
Eligibility: Depends on the training desired.

Provides programs and services to better serve the public on the local level. In addition, the office carries literature on heart disease, stroke, diet, exercise, etc. The American Heart Association's mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. |
