The Blair County CareerLink provides one-stop access to an array of employment, training, rehabilitation, and other support services.

PROGRAMS:

JOB PLACEMENT
A job placement service for employers and job-seekers is provided at no charge.  Job seekers can enroll on our web site and search for jobs by keywords, job preference, location, or, ask for staff assistance.  Employers can enter Job Orders on the web site, search for applicants, or ask staff for assistance.  The web site is www.pacareerlink.state.pa.us

COUNSELING
Occupational career counseling service to job-seekers needing to change occupations for any reason.

VETERANS SERVICES
Specialized services and programs are provided to veterans seeking employment or related services. Veterans Employment Representatives can assist veterans with job referrals, placement, counseling, on-the-job training or assist veterans with benefits information.

STATE CIVIL SERVICE/BUREAU OF STATE EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS
Bureau of Employer and Career Services has a working agreement with the State Civil Service Commission to recruit job seekers for state and local government job openings.  A monthly summary of State Civil Service Recruitment with announcements is provided in binders for easy access.  Applications and instrucations are available for both State Civil Service and Bureau of State Employment positions.

TAX CREDIT
Information on programs designed to provide employer incentives to hire or train long-term unemployed persons through tax credits.

CAREER RESOURCE AREA
Computers are available to access the Internet for Job Search activities.  Personal computers are available through the WINWAY Program to prepare resumes and cover letters, review interviewing techniques and instructions on surfing the Net.  Also available are videos and literature on Job Search activities including retraining and continuting education informaiton and referrals to community service organizations that provide special support services.

FEDERAL BONDING PROGRAM
The Federal Bonding program provides fidelity bonding insurance coverage, sometimes called "dishonesty bonding", to ex-offenders and other high-risk job seekers who are qualified but fail to get jobs because regular commercial bonding is denied them due to their backgrounds.  Federal bonding coverage is provided at no cost to the employer or the job seeker.

LABOR MARKET INFORMATION
PALMIDS contains data on a wide variety of employment, economic, career-related and education topics.  It is intended to serve the information needs of job seekers, employers, students, educational curriculum planners, workforce and economic development agencies, and the general public.

SPECIAL SERVICES
Employer and job seeker incentives. Programs designed to provide employer incentives to hire or train long-term unemployed persons through tax credits or on the job training funds; or vocational training or retraining to workers displaced by imports.
