Mission:
It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and in other ways prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. The values we strive to instill are based on those found in the Scout Oath and Law.
Programs:
Cub Scouting: Boys in first through fifth grades (or ages 7-10) may join a Cub Scout pack and be assigned to a den, which is usually made up of boys in a neighborhood who form a natural playgroup. Tiger Cub dens usually meet twice a month, and Cub Scout and Webelos Scout den meetings are usually held once a week. Cub Scouting emphasizes involvement between boys and their parents, adult leaders and friends. Activities includes: Cub Scout Resident Camp Day Camp Crafts & Games Family-oriented activities Hiking & Fishing Field Trips Pinewood Derbies Community service projects Advancements for the Cub Scouts are (in order): Bobcat Tiger Cub Wolf Bear Webelos Arrow of Light.
Boy Scouting: Available to boys who have completed the fifth grade or who are 11 through 17 years old. The program achieves the BSA’s objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness qualities among youth by focusing on a vigorous program of outdoor activities. Activities include: Boy Scout Resident Camp Campfires Hiking & Swimming Archery & Rifle shooting Opportunities to earn merit badges Participation in Order of the Arrow Community service projects Advancements for the Boy Scouts are (continued from Cub Scouts): Scout Tenderfoot Second Class First Class Star Life Eagle. |
